"The election task force is the first-of-its-kind [in keeping with the] simultaneous and combined general elections that are also being held for the first time in Indonesia."
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ahead of the April 2019 presidential and legislative elections, state oil and gas company Pertamina has assured that the supply of fuel oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is secure. To this end, Pertamina conducted a roll call to anticipate disturbances to its infrastructure and facilities starting from the upstream activity and production at its refineries to distribution, to ensure the distribution of fuel oil and LPG to all parts of Indonesia is safe, Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication Fajriyah Usman said in a press statement released on Thursday.

The company has also set up an election task force, which began work round-the-clock since February 18, 2019, to ensure the safe supply of fuel oil and LPG to ensure a smooth, safe and peaceful election process.

"The election task force is the first-of-its-kind [in keeping with the] simultaneous and combined general elections that are also being held for the first time in Indonesia," he said.

Pertamina is also coordinating with the Indonesian police and military to ensure the security of its infrastructure and facilities, he said.

"The preparedness and supply of energy is a strategic matter; we must always ensure it is secure with the help of the Indonesian police and military," he said.

The task force comprises employees of the head office, business units, operation units and subsidiaries across Indonesia and will work until late April 2019 to ensure that the energy needs during the elections right until the counting of votes can be properly met, he said.
