Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno Campaign Team (BPN) visited the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) here on Thursday to discuss problems in the official and final Voters' List (DPT) of the upcoming legislative and presidential elections. BPN Media and Communication Director Hashim Djojohadikusumo was accompanied by Ahmad Riza Patria, spokesman of BPN, and Habiburokhman, secretary of BPN Law and Advocacy Directorate, during the visit to the Bawaslu Headquarters.

"We have come to discuss the official Voters' List, which is still not clear and definitive. Part of the list is still problematic," Djojohadikusumo, younger brother of Subianto, told the press at the Bawaslu media center.

BPN has found 17.5 million names in the DPT, which are problematic, for instance having double names, different birth dates, and invalid names.

Bawaslu, during the meeting, responded to the report by promising to send a letter of recommendation to the General Election Commission (KPU) to follow up the complaint.

"Bawaslu is waiting for the definitive DPT to be presented to political parties and the BPN, as well as TKN (Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin Campaign Team) on Saturday; that's what we heard. We will check and study it to see whether our findings (of irregularities) have been addressed well by KPU," he noted.

Ahmad Patria said BPN has no intention to delegitimize KPU, but the team had filed the complaint to ensure clean and fair general elections.

Everyone will benefit from a problem-free DPT, he said, adding that it was not only in favor of BPN or TKN.

Problems with the DPT occur during every election in the country, and so this typical problem should be dealt with as early as possible, he said.

"We know that DPT is a typical problem that crops up during every election. Our objective is to correct and cleanse the DPT based on names, data and addresses," he remarked.

Indonesia will organize legislative and presidential elections simultaneously across the country on April 17, 2019.
