Makassar (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) will usher in the development of a thousand Community Training Centers in 2019 in a bid to boost the capacity of Indonesian human resources.

"The Manpower Ministry is heralding the development of one thousand Community Training Centers, and to this end, a cooperation agreement was inked in February and March 2019," Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Manpower Ministry Soes Hindharno stated during a press tour event, here, Thursday (Apr 11).

The ministry is targeting to develop these Community Training Centers to generate profits for Indonesia's economy by capitalizing on the country's demographic dividend expected to peak between 2025 and 2030.

Hindharno emphasized that such development was aligned with the current Joko Widodo administration's policy that eyes to build and improve the quality and capacity of human resources in 2019 by imparting vocational education and training.

"Several initiatives should be taken to further drive the Indonesian economy to boost the competencies of the labor force by offering vocational training. I am certain that Indonesia's human resources stand at par with other nations in terms of competitiveness, so we need to be passionate in our efforts to boost our potential," he noted.

Several innovative programs were applied at the training centers to make Indonesia's human resources more competitive via the adoption of three key skill-based strategies of skill building, upper skill building, and rebuilding skills.

Unskilled workers can opt for the skill building program to gain expertise in specific areas. In the meantime, skilled and semi-skilled workers will be part of the upper skill building program, while workers looking to hone other skill sets can take up the rebuilding skills program.

"We continue to enhance these three programs to ensure that the competitiveness of our workers is improved, and they are able to grow in line with job market developments," Hindharno stated.

Hindharno further added that Rp1 trillion was earmarked for developing one thousand Community Training Centers to ensure funding for all institutions or community training centers that are part of the government's cooperation agreement.

These institutions and community training centers will have facilities comprising a workshop building unit, training equipment, institutional operations, training programs for communities, instructors, and community training center managers.

A total of 301 training centers are scattered across Indonesia, of which 19 are of the Manpower Ministry. EDITED BY INE
