Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) is sanguine that Indonesia will stay safe during the ballot counting process until the final results of the 2019 Election emerge.

"I am an optimist, especially when one looks back at the history of four direct elections when nothing untoward transpired. It is safe," JK remarked following a visit to PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara, a national industrial zone, in Cakung, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

The vice president pointed to social media becoming a hot bed for controversies arising from differences in results.

Nonetheless, JK believes the day-to-day activities of members of the community remained unaffected.

Kalla also expressed belief that Indonesia's unity would be maintained and upheld.

In addition, JK put forth a suggestion to soon hold a meeting of the presidential candidates -- Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto -- in a bid to placate the public and their loyalists.

According to the vice president, the meeting of presidential candidate number 01 and serial number 02 will be held after Jokowi's envoy meets with Prabowo.

"There is no enemy with the enemy. It is outmoded. It is merely a meeting to pacify the community," JK emphasized.
