Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) utilized the momentum offered by the International Labor Day celebrations to appeal to the masses to put in their utmost efforts and persistently strive to excel on the professional front.

"Through hard work coupled with skillful and productive work, we have to ensure that we lead a better life today as compared to yesterday, and with the hopes of tomorrow being better than today," the president stated in his official Twitter account @jokowi as quoted by Antara here on Wednesday.

Jokowi expressed his zeal while addressing Indonesians on the occasion of International Labor Day.

Earlier, on Tuesday (Apr 30), the president had held a dialog with some workers while visiting a footwear factory PT KMK Global Sports in Cikupa, Tangerang District. He also had lunch with the workers.

Jokowi is optimistic that the commemoration of Labor Day would be held peacefully, calling on the workers to channel their efforts to upskill and reskill in a bid to boost productivity.

In the meantime, during his meeting with some leaders of labor unions in Bogor on Friday (Apr 29), the president had concurred on revising Government Regulation No. 78 of 2015 on remuneration, which he believes must be mutually beneficial to workers and employers.
