Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday issued a summons to Tasikmalaya Mayor Budi Budiman over investigation into bribery in the management of the Tasikmalaya City Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in the 2018 Fiscal Year.

Budiman will face interrogation in his capacity as a suspect in the case.

"Today, investigators have planned to cross-examine BBD (Budi Budiman) as a graft suspect over charges of bribery in the management of the Tasikmalaya City DAK in the Budget Year 2018," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah remarked on Thursday.

The anti-graft body had officially named Budi a suspect on Friday in the bribery case related to the management of the Tasikmalaya City DAK for the Fiscal Year 2018.

The KPK had also conducted a search of the Tasikmalaya mayor's office, public works and housing office, health office, and public hospital in Tasikmalaya during which it confiscated several project documents and budgets as well as electronic evidence from computers that pertained to the case.

Suspect Budiman allegedly gave Rp400 million of money to Yaya Purnomo and friends in connection with the management of DAK for Tasikmalaya City for the Fiscal Year 2018.

Purnomo is the ex-head of the Development Section for Housing and Settlement Financing in the Directorate of Regional Financial Management and Information Evaluation, Directorate General of Fiscal Balance of the Ministry of Finance.

Budiman is suspected of having violated Article 5, Paragraph (1), letter a or letter b or Article 13 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendment to Law Number 31 of 1999 on Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 64, paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
