Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo called on the people at large not to be provoked by the "people power" discourse or the post-election 2019 revolution because all elements in society are responsible for maintaining Indonesia to remain conducive.

"We have the same responsibility so that Indonesia remains conducive, even though the public space is still noisy because of the issues of the 2019 Election results," Bambang said in his written statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

He suggested that all segments of the Indonesian society stay focused on the Ramadhan fasting activities and prepare for the coming of Idul Fitri festivity which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Bambang assessed that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the military (TNI), which continued to mobilize the security forces and carry out persuasive measures related to the discourse on "people power", have proven that the national security and public order were maintained, and remained under their control.

"The issues or discourse of 'people power' and revolution have been responded wisely and measured by the National Police," he said.

According to Bambang, the government has also appointed a team to review the legal aspects of the statements or statements of a number of parties to prevent the nation from splitting.

He considered that the government's and National Police's decision to choose a soft approach to deal with the issue of "people power" and revolution was proof that aspects of national security and public order were still under the control of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, National Police and other law enforcement officers.

"The 'soft approach' option is also evidence that the government and the TNI and Polri do not panic. Because, Indonesia is basically very conducive after the General Elections Commission (KPU) have announced the manual vote recapitulation result," he said.

Therefore, according to him, there is no reason for the public to be anxious or worried because of the noisy public space because the issues surrounding the results of the 2019 Election are believed not to plunge the country into an uncertain situation.

According to him, there were no tensions that disrupted the government because President Joko Widodo continued to go to a number of regions, while the House of Representatives began the plenary session period.
