Lebak, Banten (ANTARA) - Incessant torrential rains lashing Rangkasbitung, Lebak District, Banten Province, for 3.5 hours on Monday, triggered flooding that inundated tens of homes and several roads.

Jumhana, a local resident of Muara Ciujung Timur, Rangkasbitung, remarked that the floodwaters reached a height of up to 70 centimeters.

Residential areas in Pasir Kongsen, Kampung Sawah, and Komplek Pendidikan reeled under the impact of the floods.

No less than 35 homes were submerged, but the floodwaters had begun to subside on Monday morning.

Kaprawi, the Lebak disaster mitigation office head, noted that since the floodwaters had subsided swiftly, those affected by the flooding chose to stay put in their homes.

The authorities deployed seven water pumps to tackle flooding in the residential areas.

Rangkasbitung is susceptible to flooding during the rainy season, as garbage had blocked most parts of its drainage systems.
