Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General of Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) Indra Iskandar was cross-examined by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday as witness for member of the House's commission VI Bowo Sidik Pangarso (BSP).

"(Witness) for Bowo," Iskandar stated on arrival at the KPK building, here Thursday.

BSP was named a suspect in the bribery case in connection with a shipping cooperation between PT Pupuk Indonesia Logistik (PILOG) and PT Humpuss Transportasi Kimia (HTK) and also for receiving gratuities.

The transportation was meant for the fertilizer distribution purposes of PT Pupuk Indonesia.

In addition to BSP, the KPK has declared Indung (IND) from the private sector and the Marketing Manager of PT HTK Asty Winasti (AWI) as suspects.

BSP and IND had alleged received the money from AWI.

In the construction of the case, it was explained that initially, the PT HTK ship rental agreement had been terminated.

Efforts were necessary to make PT HTK ships reusable for PT Pupuk Indonesia's fertilizer distribution purposes. To realize this, PT HTK had sought help from BSP.

Moreover, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between PT PILOG (Fertilizer Indonesia Logistics) and PT HTK on February 26, 2019, with one of the clauses of the MoU being the transportation of ships owned by PT HTK used by PT Pupuk Indonesia.

Bowo allegedly demanded a "fee" amounting to US$2 per metric ton from PT HTK for the transportation costs.

It was earlier suspected that there were six receipts at various places, such as hospitals, hotels, and PT HTK offices, totaling Rp221 million and $85,130.

The money received was allegedly converted into Rp50,000 and Rp20,000 and placed in envelopes as discovered by the KPK team in an office in Jakarta.

Moreover, the anti-graft body retrieved 84 boxes with some 400,000 envelopes containing money allegedly collected by BSP for the "dawn attack" in the 2019 Election.

The money was allegedly related to BSP's candidacy as a member of the Indonesian Parliament in the Electoral District of Central Java II.
