Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives' Commission II Deputy Chairperson Mardani Ali Sera praised the Election Supervisory Board's (Bawaslu's) prompt decision that the The General Election Commission (KPU) had violated procedures in entering data into the vote counting information system (Situng).

"I laud Bawaslu for its good and swift performance in declaring that the KPU has violated the procedures and those related to the entry of data into Situng," Sera noted in a written statement on Friday.

Sera pointed out that Bawaslu's decision indicated that the complaint lodged by the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno campaign team, who spotted several KPU errors in the data input process, were in fact proven to have occurred.

He appealed to the KPU to follow up on Bawaslu's decision to streamline the system and procedures as well as those for the input of data into Situng without further delay. "The verdict should be immediately implemented. There will still be time until May 22. This is all not allowed to play, as it involves the election of Indonesian leaders," he stated.

The Bawaslu had earlier announced that the KPU was found to have violated procedures and those related to inputting data into the Situng.

Chairperson of the Assembly Abhan remarked at the Bawaslu Session Room, Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Thursday that the KPU was proven to have legally violated the procedures in the idata entries into the Situng.

"Ordering the KPU to improve procedures in data entries in Situng," Abhan stated at a reading session on the decision on administrative violations Number 07 / LP / PP / ADM / RI / 00.00 / V / 2019.

After the decision was made, it was further announced that the KPU was tasked with ensuring that the data entered in Situng was valid, verified, and accountable to the public, so as not to trigger unrest in the community. Bawaslu also assesses Situng based on the principle of information disclosure.
