Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA) - Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno recorded victory in the 2019 presidential elections in Riau, with 1,975,287 votes, or 61.26 percent, excelling over Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin that secured 1,248,713 votes, or 38.49 percent, of the total 3,224,000 votes.

Subianto registered a victorious performance in all 12 districts and cities in Riau, the Riau General Elections Commission (KPU Riau) noted during its plenary session on vote recapitulation held here on Sunday evening.

With 4,186,053 eligible voters in total, the voter turnout in Riau, Sumatra Island, reached 78.15 percent.

On April 17, 2019, over 80 percent of the 192 million eligible voters across Indonesia had cast their ballots to elect representatives in the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), as well as provincial and district/city legislative bodies.

The people also exercised their franchise for their preferred presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs at over 800 thousand polling stations across the archipelagic nation.

The simultaneous legislative and presidential elections were viewed as being the world's largest and most complex single-day elections.
