Luqman / Azis Kurmala (ANTARA) - Yogyakarta Special Province Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X believes it is common for the public to have differing views in democracy, particularly during the 2019 Election, though it should be in accordance with regulations.

"Diverse opinions in democracy are common. However, politicians and officials should comprehend the rules and abide by them," Sultan HB X remarked after being the inspector at the event to commemorate the 111th National Awakening Day on Monday at North Alun-alun, Yogyakarta.

To mark National Awakening Day, Sultan HB X is optimistic that Indonesians would remain united despite harboring differing political choices prior to the declaration of the 2019 Election results.

"I think the public can understand that the election is held to select members of the House of Representatives, president, and vice president," he pointed out.

Sultan HB X reiterated that national unity is essential in maintaining a harmonious and functional society in a country.

He remarked that those disagreeing with the election results can voice their objections based on the regulations.

Sultan HB X declined to comment on the rally to be staged on May 22. EDITED BY INE
