Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan visited the office of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) on Jalan Thamrin, here on Wednesday at 3:20 p.m local time.

Upon his arrival at the Indonesian Bawaslu building, Baswedan entered a meeting room, which was immediately closed from the media and guarded by security officers.

Previously, after visiting the victims of Tuesday's incident at Tarakan General Hospital, he said the condition of the capital city was generally normal, despite the riots in the area around Tanah Abang and Petamburan.

He called upon the citizens of Jakarta to not panic and to go about their normal lives, as usual, even though there were a number of actions held at the Bawaslu office.

"The condition in Jakarta, generally, runs like everyday life. Around M.H Thamrin street, Tanah Abang, then Petamburan, there were indeed conflicts and violence, as we all know. But, beyond that, Jakarta is fine," he said.

A mass demonstration in front of the Bawaslu building was observed to be conducive and orderly.

Participants in the action were centered at the M.H. intersection, Thamrin and Wahid Hasyim, where they voiced their concerns, alternately with speeches, chanted slogans and applause.
