Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The Denpasar District Court in Bali Province imposed a 11-year prison term against I Putu Adi Sastrawan on Tuesday for trafficking 63.58 grams of crystal meth and 94 ecstasy pills.

The court also fined Sastrawan Rp1 billion or else spend another four months in prison, I Made Pasek, who presided over the panel of judges, stated.

The sentence is four years lighter than what public prosecutor Gede Arthana had earlier sought.

In connection with this case, earlier, a man, identified by his initials as GS, had urged the defendant to carry 30 grams of crystal meth placed in 10 used cigarette packs at Mertanadi Street.

The public prosecutor remarked that the defendant later placed the pack into a waist bag and the rest in a plastic bag.

GS later told the defendant to place the contraband at Tukad Badung Street in Renon and Gunung Soputan Street in Denpasar. The Bali Provincial Police personnel arrested the defendant when he was placing the crystal meth at the instructed locations in the wee hours of the morning.

During the raid, the police confiscated crystal meth and 94 ecstasy pills from the defendant residing at Kerobokan Highway, North Kuta, Bali.

The police personnel discovered bong and electronic scales while rummaging through his house.
