The investigation was resumed todayJakarta (ANTARA) - Ex-chief of the Army's Strategic Reserve Command, Major General (ret) Kivlan Zen, who has been named a suspect in a firearms possession case, underwent another round of investigation as a witness in the flow of funding from Habil Marati, suspected of being involved in an alleged murder attempt.
"The Friday night investigation was suspended temporarily, as he had a toothache. The investigation was resumed today," Kivlan's lawyer, Muhammad Yuntri, said on Monday.
Yuntri added that the investigation of funding from United Development Party (PPP) politician Habil Marati to Kivlan at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police was continuing.
During the June 14, 2019 interrogation, the investigators raised 11 questions to Kivlan Zen over the money allegedly used to buy firearms.
"Yesterday, 11 questions were raised. Today, the investigation is still going on," he said.
Habil Marati has been accused of seeking to fund the alleged murder attempt targeting four state officials. He reportedly handed over Rp60 million in cash to each of the would-be assassins.
Kivlan Zen was taken into custody on May 29, 2019 by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, following interrogation as a suspect in a firearms possession case.
Zen's arrest was made after being charged with violating Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 during questioning at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), coordinator of Kivlan's lawyer team, Djudju Purwantoro, noted on May 29, 2019.
"Hence, the investigator has made the report. It pertains to the question of whether he kept or used the firearms lawfully. It is related to the testimonies from the suspect Kurniawan, or Sugi and (five other) colleagues," he remarked.
