Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led a limited meeting here, Wednesday, to discuss preparations to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, and Group of Twenty (G20) Summit in Osaka, Japan.

"We must utilize the momentum offered by the two crucial meetings to the best possible extent to seize existing opportunities, specifically to boost our state's economy and national interests," President Jokowi affirmed while opening the meeting at the presidential office.

The head of state remarked that at the 34th ASEAN Summit, Indonesia will call on all member states to maintain a united stance in the face of the US-China trade war.

The president deems this move necessary to maintain economic stability in the Southeast Asian region.

Furthermore, Indonesia will highlight efforts to address marine pollution during the ASEAN Summit.

"The third aspect concerns accelerating the realization of peace in Rakhine State, Myanmar," he revealed.

In the meantime, Indonesia will draw attention to the global economy and finance at the G20 Summit.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong were among the attendees at the meeting.

Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise, and Vice Foreign Minister A. M. Fachir were also present at the meeting.

The ASEAN Summit will be held on June 22-23, while the G20 Summit will take place on June 28-29. EDITED BY INE
