Medan (ANTARA) - PT Inalum (Persero) offered assistance by distributing 10 thousand school uniforms for elementary and junior high school students in Batubara District and handing out scholarships to 100 students in North Sumatra's 10 districts and cities.

"The school uniforms and scholarships were handed out a few days ago," PT Inalum President Director Budi Gunadi Sadikin noted in a written statement received in Medan on Saturday.

The assistance offered was part of a routine program implemented by the company to further boost social awareness for the community and residents around the company.

On the occasion, Sadikin also explained about Inalum's current condition after becoming a parent mining holding company.

Moreover, Inalum has received three mandates from the government to manage strategic mineral reserves, bolster downstream operations, and emerge as a world-class company.

"Currently, Inalum's operations do not merely cover the areas of North Sumatra but also the operational areas of Antam, Timah, Bukit Asam, and Freeport," he remarked.

PT Inalum Managing Director Oggy Achmad Kosasih remarked that Inalum will continue to work to advance the nation.

"This will continue to boost the production capacity, from the current 250 thousand tons of aluminum annually to 500 thousand tons per year. We also build a downstream factory and alumina refining plant in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, to lower dependence on alumina imports," he added.
