Jakarta (ANTARA) - Four coordinating ministries proposed a total budget of Rp1.25 trillion in the 2020 state budget (APBN) during a working meeting with the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs proposed a budget of Rp409.4 billion, a decrease of Rp4.8 billion, from Rp414.2 billion in the budget year 2019 in spite of a rise in personnel and operational spending.

"Our indicative ceiling falls to Rp409.4 billion than that in 2019. Although the number of our priority and regular programs and personnel as well as the amount of operational spending increased, we are left with no other choice but to ensure optimum and efficient utilization of the budget," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution stated.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan proposed an additional budget of Rp100 billion in 2020, thereby bringing the ministry's total budget needs to Rp344.5 billion.

The additional budget fund is designed to support the management and execution of technical tasks and to coordinate the development of maritime policies, he explained.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani proposed a budget of Rp226.2 billion for 2020, decreasing from Rp342.9 billion in 2019 owing to the adjustment of salaries and performance allowances.

"The budget at our coordinating ministry is the lowest (among the four coordinating ministries)," the minister pointed out.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto proposed an indicative ceiling of Rp282.8 billion for 2020, along with the realization of integrated budget programs at the ministry and coalescing three programs into one program.
