Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - A fire ravaged six houses in Mude Baru hamlet, Blangkejeren sub-district, Gayo Lues district, Aceh province, Friday night, June 28, 2019. "The fire occurred all of a sudden. The source of the fire is believed to come from one of the houses in the Mude Baru hamlet," Acting Chief of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Teuku Ahmad Dadek said here Saturday.

The fire broke out in the house which was located in the center of the local people's settlements at around 09.00 p.m. It spread quickly to other buildings due to the strong winds in the plateau in the westernmost Indonesian province.

The blaze could be extinguished nearly two hours later after the BPBD sent five fire trucks to the scene of the fire.

The fire displaced 29 residents but claimed no lives.

The police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Strong winds will continue to affect almost all regions in Aceh province until the next few days, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Office in Aceh province has predicted.

The winds will have an average speed of 20 to 50 kilometers per hour in the afternoon and at night, Chief of the BMKG Office's Data and Information Section Zakaria Ahmad said.
