This is an important part if we look at references related to the environment, sustainability, transparency and economic development and green growth
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The study and recommendations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) through its Green Growth Policy Review (GGPR) should help Indonesia to grow green, Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar said.

"This is an important part if we look at references related to the environment, sustainability, transparency and economic development and green growth," she said in Jakarta Wednesday.

Siti also claimed to have coordinated with Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro to obtain and disclose Indonesia's policy review in green growth orientation without any hesitation. The OECD GGPR had provided evidence-based assessments and provided various policy recommendations to help Indonesia ensure consideration of green growth, she said.

Green growth has been integrated into the planning process to make it relevant to economic and sectoral policies and in harmony with the social and ethno-cultural landscape in the country, she said.

In the OECD GGPR document, there are several important recommendations. The first refers to continuously building capacity, especially among provincial and district authorities to implement related laws and regulations.

The second refers to ensuring coherence between sectoral development goals and sustainable development goals, while the third spoke of utilizing market-based instruments.

"Specifically, it uses taxes to encourage production and consumption of activities and products that are environmentally friendly," she said.

The last OECD GGPR provides recommendations for the Indonesian government to continue various policies and action initiatives that support sustainable land use including social forestry.

In general, several recommendations or policies from the OECD GGPR have been and are being implemented by the government, she said.
