Jakarta (ANTARA) - The advocacy team is optimistic of having a face-to-face meeting with President Joko Widodo, so that Baiq Nuril could directly reveal details of what had transpired with her.

"The president can hear the story directly from Nuril's mother. No invitation had yet been received, but we are harboring hopes of being invited to the palace," Erasmus Napitupulu from the Advocacy Team of Save Baiq Nuril from the Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) stated at the Presidential Staff Office, Jakarta, on Thursday.

Currently, the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights is processing matters pertaining to the granting of criminal amnesty to Nuril in the case.

However, Napitupulu further highlighted the need to have a one-on-one meeting with the president, so that he would be able to understand Nuril's perspective.

To this end, Deputy V for Politics, Law, Security, and Human Rights of the Jaleswari Presidential Staff Office Pramodhawardhani stated that KSP had, in fact, served as the president's representative during a meeting with Nuril's advocacy team on Thursday morning.

"When it comes to meeting with the president, I think details on the president's schedule should be awaited," he explained.

Nuril had submitted a judicial review to the Supreme Court over the case of violating the ITE Law in connection with the dissemination of records carrying immoral electronic content that had befallen her. However, the Supreme Court, through its decision, had rejected her request for a judicial review.

Currently, Nuril is seeking amnesty from the president in the case that ensnares her.
