Auckland (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya is optimistic that the First Pacific Exposition 2019 exhibition will be a new breakthrough for the intention to cooperate more actively in the tourism sector. "Cooperation between Pacific countries will reflect constructive international cooperation in the region, which helps achieve the goal of promoting the tourism industry," he said in Auckland on Thursday.

The Pacific tourism sector is increasing and will be the main driver of socio-economic growth in the coming decades for development, according to Arief.

"I really hope that our forum can provide useful insights, covered with success, and in particular, produce substantial results and tangible benefits that will ultimately benefit the One Pacific Destination," he said.

Explaining the slogan of One Pacific Destination, he said it is very important as a holistic brand that reflects the essence of the authenticity of the region, representing common values and felt by travelers in the Pacific region.

"Promoting a strong One Pacific Destination brand can be a solution to shape the future of sustainable tourism for the Pacific," he said.

To make the Pacific a single destination, all parties in this region must work together to develop the strategies and efforts to realize their common goals, he added.

The First Pacific Exposition exhibition is being held in Auckland between July 11 and 14, 2019. The exhibition displays the themes of trade, tourism, investment, and culture. These activities are managed by the Government of Indonesia and supported by New Zealand and Australia making it a strategic activity and the first comprehensive exhibition in Pacific history.
