Jakarta (ANTARA) -
President Joko Widodo called upon the Indonesian National Armed Force (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) cadets to safeguard Indonesia while bearing in mind the five principles of Pancasila.

The President made his remarks during the "Prasetya Perwira 2019" ceremony held in the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

"All of you have huge responsibilities. You must continue to protect the Pancasila from the external ideological waves" President Joko Widodo said.

Law enforcement officers also have to maintain Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity), tolerance of differences between the children of the nation.

"They must have a strong mind and character, and be responsive and intelligent," the president stated.

The President also reminded the officers to uphold the code of ethics and identity as TNI and Polri officers.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) oversaw the ceremony in which 781 military and police cadets were recognized as officers during the "Prasetya Perwira 2019" ceremony.

The 781 cadets who graduated from the military and police academies in 2019 include 259 Military cadets, 99 Air Force cadets, 117 Navy cadets, and 306 Police cadets.

Each academy’s finest graduate received the Adhi Makaysa award.
