Ikahi deeply regrets the despicable actions taken by lawyers against judges in the Central Jakarta District Court Meeting Room
Jakarta (ANTARA) - General Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Judge Association (Ikahi) Suhadi regretted the incident of a judge being beaten up by an advocate in the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday, July 18. "Ikahi deeply regrets the despicable actions taken by lawyers against judges in the Central Jakarta District Court Meeting Room," Suhadi said at the Jakarta Supreme Court Building on Friday.

Desrizal, the lawyer, should be prosecuted in accordance with the law and processed in the professional ethics session for violating the ethics of advocacy, his party demanded.

"The actions taken by the lawyer are criminal acts and violate the lawyers' professional ethics that he should have upheld," Suhadi said.

Whatever the reason behind the attack on the judge in the courtroom, it is contempt of court or an insult to the court and demeans the dignity of the judiciary, according to Suhadi.

"The executive board is committed to guarding the legal process against the lawyer," he added.

Desrizal is one of the attorneys of Tomy Winata who deliberately whipped his belt out at the Panel of Judges who were reading out the verdict at the Central PN on Thursday (18/7). Judge HS who was the victim of the dismissal also suffered bruises.

Kemayoran Metro Police confirmed the incident, and his party had arrested the perpetrator of the persecution.

Regarding the chronology of the incident, the Kemayoran Metro Police did not offer any details as the case was being handled by the Central Jakarta Metro Police.
