Could we accept the report of the House Commission XI regarding the candidate for Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor?"
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives (DPR) approved Destry Damayanti as the Bank Indonesia (BI) senior deputy governor at its 23rd plenary meeting during the fifth session period of 2018-2019 on Thursday.

The DPR endorsed the nomination of Destry to the post following the receipt of a report from the House's Commission XI that had conducted a fit and proper test on Destry in early July 2019.

"Could we accept the report of the House's Commission XI regarding the candidate for Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor's post?" DPR Deputy Chairman Utut Adianto raised the question at the plenary session.

No DPR member present at the meeting had opposed the approval of Destry as the BI senior deputy governor.

In his report, Deputy Chairman of the House Commission XI Achmad Hafisz Tohir revealed that the fit and proper test was conducted on July 1, after which the House Commission XI held hearings with the chiefs of the State Intelligence Board (BIN), National Banking Association (Perbanas), Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to gather inputs on Destry's nomination for the post.

The House's Commission XI held an internal meeting on July 11, 2019, to decide on the candidate for the BI senior deputy governor's post.

"After gathering inputs, suggestions, and views from all factions, the internal meeting of the DPR Commission XI decided by acclamation to name Destry Damayanti as Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor for the 2019-2024 term," he added.
