"The current eruption had no impact on flights," Director General of Air Transportation, Polana B Pramesti, said in a statement here Friday.
Polana urged all relevant stakeholders to coordinate and monitor the impact of the eruption.
"We will continue to monitor the progress of the impact of the eruption of Mount Tangkuban Parahu so that all teams can be prepared and the right efforts in handling the impact of volcanic ash for flights can be informed immediately," he said.
The domestic flight routes in West Java and surrounding areas are still safe, Head of Airport Authority Region I Herson said.
"The domestic flight route does not go through the area around Tangkuban Perahu Mountain. The international flight route flies at an appropriate height so that it does not have an impact. If later, there is an impact of volcanic ash, the flight route will be diverted immediately," he explained.
The eruption was recorded on a seismogram to have a maximum amplitude of 38 millimeters with a duration of about five minutes and 30 seconds, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) explained.
The volcano was classed as level 1 status or normal, according to PVMBG.
