Bogor (ANTARA) - Eid al-Adha is a moment to encourage people to practice social piety, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated.

"I think in our country we must continue to encourage people to do it well," Jokowi said after performing Eid al-Adha prayers at Astrid Square of Bogor Botanical Garden on Sunday morning.

To celebrate Eid al-Adha, according to him, maintaining devotion to Allah as well as good interpersonal relationship is an obligation of every Muslim.

"(Whether it is relationship) with friends or neighbors, I think we should continue encouraging the act of social piety," Jokowi added.

Together with First Lady Iriana, Jokowi was performing Eid al-Adha prayers presumed by Ustaz Iqbal Subhan Nugraha, lecturer at An-Nuaimy College in Jakarta.

On this occasion, the President also handed over a cow weighing 1,002 kilograms to the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) to be sacrificed.
