Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration gave confirmation on Wednesday of the deportation of an Australian for supposedly partaking in a rally in Sorong, West Papua Province, some days back.

The 36-year-old Australian, identified as Davidson Cheryl Melinda, was flown to Australia aboard a Darwin-bound Virgin Australia plane via the Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali at 3:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday, Chief of the Public Relations Bureau of the Directorate General of Immigration Sam Fernando noted in a brief message text.

Melinda is one of the four Australians, who underwent deportation for their alleged role in the rally held outside the Sorong Municipal Office late last August.

The three other Australians are Baxter Tom (37), Hellyer Danielle Joy (31), and Cobbold Ruth Irene (25). They were deported on Monday (Sept 2) aboard a Qantas Airline plane through the Ngurah Rai Airport after being flown from Sorong to Bali via Makassar by a Batik Air flight.

The four Australians faced deportation for violation of the immigration law and disruption of peace and order. Related news: Foreigners not banned in Papua, but numbers restricted
