International flights at New Yogyakarta airport from 2020

Today, we conducted a hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) with some of the international airline companies [to check the airport's readiness]
Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - International flights will land at the New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) in the coastal region of Kulon Progo District from April 2020,  state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I stated here, Friday. "Today, we conducted a hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) with some of the international airline companies [to check the airport's readiness]," PT Angkasa Pura I's acting general manager, Agus Pandu Purnama said.

Starting April 2020, all international flights en route to Yogyakarta will be redirected from the Adisutjipto International Airport to New Yogyakarta International Airport, he added.

Two airlines that had confirmed the relocation were the Malaysian-low cost airline AirAsia and the Singapore-based airline SilkAir.

Following the assessment, he explained that some minor findings on the runaway and airside had been reported to the airport's operator, Purnama added.

"I believe the findings are not too significant. We could fix those minor defects immediately," he stated.

The province's new airport had started its first service on April this year, and it was designed to accommodate a wide range of aircraft from Boeing B777s to Airbus A350s.
