I am willing to and am ready to give my support for this nation's cause.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former Chief Justice of Indonesia's Constitutional Court Mahfud MD spoke of his willingness to be part of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) administration’s ministerial line-up in the Working Cabinet II.

"I am willing and ready to offer my support to this nation's cause," Mahfud stated at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday.

However, Mahfud claimed to yet be unaware of the specific ministerial position.

"The position has not be stated since there are so many sectors. However, according to our discussion, it could be related to law, politics, and religion," he stated.

Mahfud MD was earlier rumored to be on several possible positions, such as the law and human rights minister, attorney general, and minister of religion.

"I also felt surprised as President Jokowi knew my background from time to time. I did not have to bid for any position since he already knew the suitable one," he noted.

Mahfud remarked that the ministerial inauguration will take place on Wednesday, October 23.

"I was called by the president and asked to help him as a minister, for which the inaugurated will be held by this Wednesday, gathering here in the morning," Mahfud explained.

Mahfud arrived at the palace at around 9:35 a.m. local time and departed at 10:40 a.m. local time dressed in white shirt, a preferred outfit of Jokowi and his Working Cabinet I.

Apart from Mahmud MD, several figures, who also arrived at the Presidential Palace this morning comprised South Minahasa Mayor Christiany Eugenia Paruntu, Gojek founder Nadiem Makarim, President Commissioner NET Mediatama Wishnutama, and founder of Mahaka Group Erick Thohir.

On Sunday, October 20, President Jokowi revealed that he will be introducing his cabinet ministers on Monday, October 21.

The president affirmed on his social media account that the people he selected for the next cabinet were engaged in varied fields: academics, bureaucrats, politicians, religious figures, army, and police, who were expected to be innovative, productive, and hardworking.
