President Joko Widodo's order is clear, law enforcement agencies must not bar investments
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government plan to dissolve the Prosecution Office's Central-Regional Development, Governance, Security and Supervisory Team (TP4) and its local office (TP4D) is aimed at easing investments, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko reaffirmed here, Friday. "President Joko Widodo's order is clear, law enforcement agencies must not bar investments," he stated at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The President expected the prosecution office to assist and support any investments launched in the country, Moeldoko clarified.

"Our law enforcement should serve as a bridge for investors and local governments, so any infrastructure plan can be executed properly," he added.

Despite some people expressing apprehensions about the plan, Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD and General Attorney Sanitiar Burhanuddin, on November 20, agreed to dissolve the supervisory body which was launched in October 2015.

The body had been ineffective in overseeing the infrastructure development projects, both at the national level and at the regions, as some of its officials had been arrested in corruption cases, the minister said.

It had been utilized for unlawful activities, one of which included bribery, and other forms of graft, Mahfud MD believed. (INE)
