Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Malaysian Police (Polisi Diraja Malaysia/PDRM) in Serawak have arrested the suspected killer of an Indonesian migrant worker, Indonesia Police spokesperson Brigadier General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono confirmed in Jakarta Thursday.

"The suspect was arrested in Malaysia this month, and is currently being interrogated," Yuwono said.

PDRM is still investigating the motive behind the killing of Ilyas Setiawan, who was a resident of Trenggalek, East Java.

Setiawan’s body was brought home today through the land route from Kuching-Tebedu in Malaysia to Entikong-Pontianak in Indonesia, and will be flown to Surabaya, East Java.

Setiawan was found dead on December 5, 2019 by a resident at an oil palm plantation in Serian, Malaysia, with a nine-centimeter wound in his neck that was confirmed by local police the next day.

A witness claimed to know Setiawan as a casual labourer at the plantation owned by Chrisologo.

"The witness told police that the victim was a labourer with a daily fee of RM50 (around US$12). His job was harvesting oil palm fruits which were sold to Salcra Palm Oil Melikin, Serian, Sarawak," Yuwono explained.
