Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will summon Hasto Kristiyanto, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) secretary general, as witness over bribery in an internal replacement of the ruling party's legislator for House of Representatives' 2019-2024.
"If investigators need information from him, he will definitely be summoned," Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri confirmed here on Friday.
The agency had earlier named Wahyu Setiawan, commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU), a suspect for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rp600 million from PDIP cadre Harun Masiku in order to name Masiku as a member of the Parliament (DPR) in the electoral district of South Sumatra I to replace the elected DPR candidate from the PDIP faction from South Sumatra I region -- Nazarudin Kiemas -- who had passed away.
To fulfill the request, Wahyu had reportedly demanded an operational fund of Rp900 million, of which he only received Rp600 million.
The bribe was allegedly received by Wahyu in two stages. The first was in mid-December 2019. During that time, Wahyu had received the money amounting to Rp200 million from a person he trusted -- Agustiani Tio Fridelina -- at one of the shopping centers in South Jakarta.
Wahyu allegedly received another Rp400 million in bribes at the end of December 2019.
The agency detained Wahyu and his assistant Rahmat Tonidaya at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday (Jan 8). It also arrested a former member of the Election Supervisory Body and a confidant of Wahyu, Agustiani Tio Fridelina, in Depok. The agency's team seized some Rp400 million, and some Singapore dollars as well as bank account books from Agustiani.
Another team also detained Saeful, a private employee, who worked for Kristiyanto, and Doni, an advocate and driver of Saeful.
Lastly, the KPK team arrested Wahyu's family members -- Ika Indayani and Wahyu Budiyani -- in Banyumas on the same day.
The agency also named Agustiani Tio Fridelina, Harun Masiku, and Saeful as suspects.
