Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jacksons and Omar Apollo will be performing as guest stars at the 2020 Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival, to be held from February 28 to March 1 at Jakarta's Kemayoran JIExpo.

The legendary musical group, The Jacksons, comprises Jackie, Tito, and Marlon Jackson, who will be performing on Saturday, February 29. The "I Want You Back" singers will also be celebrating 50 years in the music industry.

Meanwhile, Omar Apollo is a musician beloved by the youth and has written and recorded tracks in the genres of jazz, R&B, funk, soul, and pop. He is due to perform on Sunday, March 1.

"It just so happens that The Jacksons are currently on tour for their 50-year anniversary, and Omar Apollo is a rising talent and we would like to give him a platform," said President Director of Java Festival Production, Dewi Gontha, at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday.

This year, the Java Jazz event is being held under the theme, "Redeem Yourself Through Music", and according to Dewi, the theme stems from the idea that all human beings need something to distract themselves from the many things that happen in life.

"We hope this festival can become a place where everyone can spend their time watching sensational performances and enjoy the music," she said.

Other than the two guest stars, the 2020 Java Jazz will also feature other artists from national and international stages, including Mustafa N Jongens, Dwiki Dharmawan feat. Nadin Amizah, Jay Som, Jeff Lorber Fusion Trio (Jeff, Jimmy Haslip, Gary Novak), KRLY, Maya Hasan, Michael Paulo & Gregg Karukas feat Melissa Manchester, Michael White, MLDJAZZPROJECT ALL Star feat Devinta and Moneva.

Arta (ICINC), MLDJAZZPROJECT S4 Feat. Potret, Fariz RM & Humania, Nita Aartsen Quintet, Nusantero, Pamungkas, Paulinho Garcia, Phil Perry, RINI, Ron King Big Band, The Steve McQueens, United States Air Force Band of the Pacific and Yongky Vincen are also scheduled to perform.

Tickets are on sale for 1.875 million rupiahs for a three-day ticket and 775 thousand rupiahs for a single-day pass. There are additional charges for the The Jacksons Special Show at 375 thousand rupiahs and 250 thousand rupiahs for the Omar Apollo Special Show.
