How this 16-year-old teenager was at the reservoir area and got trapped inside a steel pipe
Manado, N Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Tahuna Sub-district's search and rescue (SAR) workers in Sangihe Islands District, North Sulawesi Province, were deployed to the sub-district’s artificial reservoir area to evacuate a teenager’s body trapped inside a steel pipe on Tuesday.

The SAR workers successfully retrieved the body of Christian Wane, a resident of Manente Village, who reportedly went missing three days ago, after cutting the pipe, Head of Manado City's SAR Agency Suhri Nubertus Sianaga stated here on Tuesday.

To get the deceased out, the rescue workers used a backhoe for shaking the pipe, measuring some 30 inches in diameter. The evacuation process was completed at 5 a.m. local time. The deceased remains of Christian Wane had been handed over to this family for burial.

However, Sianaga did unveil how this 16-year-old teenager was at the reservoir area and got trapped inside the pipe.

The local rescuers, assisted by residents as well as police and military personnel, were dispatched to the catchment area after the reservoir workers smelt a stink in their working area. They then notified the local police precinct on early Tuesday

"Thanks to all, who have been involved in the evacuation process," he added. Related news: W Java's fatal tourist bus accident under police's investigation
