The 2020 Population Census is the first to apply an online system, also called the Independent Census, to be conducted from February to March 2020.
Residents can simply access the Online Census page on the address: sensus.bps.go.id and enter the page by typing their Population Identification Numbers (NIK).
In addition to the online system method during the first stage, a second-stage census will be conducted conventionally by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) officers, who will undertake door-to-door visits in July 2020. The final stage of the trilogy 2020 Population Census is the Sample Enumeration to be conducted in July 2021.
"Data from the population census is very important. The information that we fill will determine future development policies, so that we know which areas need additional education, health, transportation, and all facilities," the president added.
The 2020 Population Census Data offers demographic parameters and population projections, such as fertility, mortality, and migration, as well as other characteristics for the purposes of population projections and indicators of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The president called upon Indonesian people to help make the 2020 Population Census a success and welcome the census officers at homes.
In the data collection, the community will be urged to answer 22 basic data questions from name, place, date of birth, religion, current residence, and last education to work.
Thus, all members in a Family Card, both infants and seniors, can record their personal data through the 2020 Population Census.
If people experience problems in data entry, they can make three attempts. However, if still no success is met, a notification will thereafter be issued that a census officer will visit their house in July.
The BPS has also received support from the National Siber and Coding Agency, Bandung Institute of Technology, Australian Statistics Bureau, and Ministry of Communication and Information Technology for implementing SP2020 online to strengthen communication networks and internet and data security.
