BRI's assets reach Rp1,416.8 trillion. The 2019 net profit reached Rp34.4 trillion, while Rp11.7 trillion of it was paid to the state treasury and the rest is distributed among shareholders.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned lender PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has agreed to distribute 60 percent of its last year's net profit of Rp34.4 trillion as dividends.

The decision to distribute dividends worth Rp20.6 trillion, equal to Rp168.1 per share, was taken following the bank’s general meeting of its shareholders 2020 at the BRI I Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"BRI's assets reach Rp1,416.8 trillion. The net profits for 2019 reached Rp34.4 trillion while Rp11.7 trillion of it was paid to the state treasury and the rest is distributed among shareholders," BRI President Director Sunarso explained.

The dividend payout in 2020 rose 27.2 percent as compared to Rp16.2 trillion, or Rp132.2 per share, doled out in 2019, he stated.

The dividend payout, constituting 60 percent of the bank's net profits, will not affect its capital adequacy ratio (CAR) since the bank had committed to maintaining it at over 18 percent.

In the meantime, the bank's earnings per share (EPS) for 2019 was Rp279, up 6.1 percent, from Rp263 a year earlier.

The general meeting of shareholders also reached a decision to appoint Deputy Minister of State-Owned Companies Kartika Wirjoatmodjo as the bank's chief commissioner.

"At the general meeting of shareholders, we decided to appoint Kartika Wirjoatmodjo as BRI's chief commissioner," he added.
