Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A joint Indonesian military and police team detained a Malaysian citizen identified by his initial as MF for drug possession at the Aruk border area, Sambas District, West Kalimantan Province which shares a border line with Malaysia.

"We arrest him for carrying nine grams of crystal methamphetamine. Based on information that we have collected, the drugs are for self-consumption and also trafficking," Lt Col Kukuh Suharwiyono, commander of the border security task force Yonif R 641/Bru, said at the Entikong border crossing, Senggau District, on Sunday.

The arrest was made following a tip off from the community that a Malaysian national would cross the border for drug trafficking.

"Right now, the perpetrator along with the crystal methamphetamine, is being detained in the Sambas police jail for further investigation," he said.
