Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - Dr Sardjito Public Hospital in Yogyakarta treated a Japanese national currently being placed under surveillance in an isolation room over suspected coronavirus since March 3, 2020.

He was suffering from fever and was diagnosed with a lung infection on arrival at the hospital, Ika Trisnawati, an internist and lung consultant at the Dr Sardjito Hospital, stated during a press conference here on Thursday.

"Currently, his health condition has improved, and he is clinically quite stable. Since the first day of treatment, and after offering therapy, his fever has dropped," she stated.

Since he came from an epidemic nation, the patient has been placed under observation in isolation until now.

Dr Sardjito Hospital awaits the results of laboratory examinations by the Health Research and Development Agency (Litbangkes) to confirm whether the patient has tested positive for COVID-19.

"The results will come out as soon as possible. If it is negative (for COVID-19), we will coordinate with the Health Office, KKP (Port Health Office), and the Japanese Embassy to assist in the return of the patient," she noted.

Two patients are still under surveillance at the Dr Sardjito Hospital. Another patient is an Indonesian, who had just returned from Umrah, minor Hajj pilgrimage, and is now in good condition. Related news: Jakarta monitors 145, places 30 under surveillance over COVID-19
