Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Head of Sumba Tengah District in East Nusa Tenggara Province Paulus S. K. Limu has banned his subordinates from leaving the district as part of precautionary measures adopted to curtail the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

"The ban, issued on Monday (March 16), will be valid until further notice," he stated on Monday.

All employees of the district administration, who had secured letters of assignment to travel to rest of Indonesia, must cancel their trips, he noted.

Limu also called on the residents of Sumba Tengah District to cancel their trips until and unless they were urgent in nature.

The ban is being imposed in the best interests of the community, especially for the residents of Sumba Tengah District, he stated.

Limu said he will soon hold a meeting with relevant agencies for deliberating on matters, including the infrastructure needed to handle the possibility of a coronavirus outbreak in the district. Related news: COVID-19 test result of Indonesian Vice President comes back negative
