Jakarta (ANTARA) - Around 60 Indonesians are believed to be part of the crew of cruise ship Costa Luminosa, which has docked in Marseille, France, after several of its passengers tested positive for COVID-19.

The 60 Indonesians aboard the Italian-flagged cruise ship are in good health, said Indonesian Ambassador to France Arrmanatha Nasir in a short message text on Friday.

"This morning I talked with one of the Indonesian crew members. Some 60 Indonesians are employed at the ship as crew members. In general, most of them are in good health," he said.

On Thursday (March 19), the Marseille health authorities checked the passengers and crew members on board the ship for infection.

"There has been no formal information about whether some of the (Indonesian crew members) have tested positive for COVID-19," he said.

Some passengers who decided to return home by plane from Marseille were disembarked from the cruise ship on Thursday (March 19).

Meanwhile, passengers who are still aboard the cruise ship have been ordered to stay in their rooms.

"The ship is likely to depart for Savona, Italy this afternoon or tomorrow," the Ambassador said.

The Costa Luminosa began to dock in Marseille at 10.00 local time on Thursday.

The ambassador said he will monitor the developments related to confirmed cases of COVID-19 on board the ship. (INE)
