Jakarta (ANTARA) - The recently opened Emergency Hospital for COVID-19 in Kemayoran currently accommodates 208 patients as of Thursday morning, Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kobagwilhan) I Vice Admiral Yudo Margono stated.

"A total of 208 inpatients, comprising 121 men and 87 women, have been accommodated at the Emergency Hospital for COVID-19," he noted in a statement.

Of the total, 14 patients had tested positive for COVID-19. Most of the patients, reaching 146, were those under surveillance (PDP), while patients under monitoring (ODP) numbered 48.

The Athlete Dormitory Building (Wisma Atlet) transformed into the Emergency Hospital for COVID-19 was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on March 23, 2020.

Despite a capacity to accommodate 12 thousand people, the hospital could currently only house three thousand in the first stage.

Government spokesperson for COVID-19 Response Achmad Yurianto had earlier stressed that the Emergency Hospital prioritizes the treatment of COVID-19 positive patients diagnosed through an antigen examination method or polymerase chain reaction testing, also known as PCR.

"The government will only treat positive cases as evidenced from the results of the antigen examination," he had emphasized on Monday (Mar 23).

Based on the government's latest data on Wednesday (Mar 25), the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia had totaled 790, with 55 deaths and 31 cases declared as cured. Related news: Indonesia's several hotels to serve as emergency hospitals: government
