Each village will ready a safe house. If we find an indication of somebody needing quarantine, then they will be quarantined at the village.
Malang, E Java (ANTARA) - The Malang district administration in East Java will prepare a safe house in each village as part of efforts to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the district.

The safe houses will be used to quarantine residents returning from areas categorized as red zones, or areas with a higher number of confirmed coronavirus cases, Malang District head M Sanusi informed on Tuesday.

"Each village will ready a safe house. If we find an indication of somebody needing quarantine, then they will be quarantined at the village," he said.

Each resident who has recently from a red zone will be subject to a medical test, which will be conducted by the medical team of the Malang District Health Office. The quarantine will only target people who are in good health.

Meanwhile, residents testing positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a medical test would be taken to a hospital for treatment, Sanusi pointed out.

The 14-day quarantine will apply to any resident who has recently returned from a red zone, he added.

Malang District has recorded 11 confirmed coronavirus cases so far, with four patients recovering and one patient dying of the infection.
