Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vaccination rates are strongly correlated to the reopening of tourism destinations and creative economic centers, including opening of the travel corridor arrangement in Bali, Batam, and Bintan, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated.

"The three main destinations that we will open (for the) travel corridor arrangement -- Batam, Bintan, and Bali -- are still heading toward the 75-80 percent completed vaccination prerequisite set as the target," Uno noted in a press statement here on Thursday.

The minister remarked that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had planned to complete that target by the end of September, so his group is eyeing to meet that prerequisite by September.

In addition, he highlighted other preconditions, including the CHSE end-to-end certification and industrial readiness, that should be taken into account for the opening of Batam, Bintan, and Bali.

"If the various government programs aim to help tourism and creative economy players proceed well, then I am optimistic that by the end of the third or fourth quarter, we can begin a trial run to open our borders," he expounded.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is targeting to vaccinate 95 percent of tourism and creative economy players.

On Monday, over 193 thousand residents had been inoculated in mass vaccination drives that the ministry conducted along with various parties.

Until September 2021, the ministry aims to vaccinate 450 thousand people related to tourism industry, and creative economy sector through the ministry's vaccination centers.

Uno also urged residents to use the PeduliLindungi application developed by the government.

Uno noted that his group will optimize the role and function of the application to cater to the various needs of residents regarding health protocols or vaccine information.
