Jakarta (ANTARA) - Users are still facing some difficulties in using the PeduliLindungi application, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said here on Monday.

"Some visitors have do not have handphones, some , some venues do not have my internet network so users are unable to check into the app,and sometimes vaccination data are not updated so the QR scans yield a red code, Uno informaed a weekly press briefing;

Moreover, he added, there are still many visitors who have not downloaded PeduliLindungi and there is low awareness of the importance of using the app.

These obstacles are leading to long queues and visitors returning home because they cannot enter tourism destinations or certain places that require checking in through the application, the minister said.

"Like it or not, the PeduliLindungi application is important because it shows vaccination data as well as the results of PCR and antigen tests," he affirmed.

One of the benefits of the data being presented on the application is that a visitor who has not been vaccinated at all and is prone to getting infected cannot enter a venue, he said. Moreover, this also applies to those who have tested positive for COVID-19, he added.

Furthermore, Uno said, some changes have been made to the Ministerial Instruction (Inmendagri) No. 66 of 2021 on the prevention and handling of COVID-19 on Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022, especially on regulations regarding tourism attractions and for tourists.

During the holiday period, visitors' capacity at malls, shopping centers, and dining areas inside them has been capped at 75 percent, he noted.

In the newest Inmendagri, the 50-percent cap on the number of visitors in cinemas has been rolled back, he said.

"The limitation on the number of tourists in a destination that was previously 50 percent, was increased to 75 percent," the minister added.
