The black lettering on a white license plate is easier to be detected by the traffic cameraJakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Police's public information bureau of the public relations division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, affirmed that the new license plate colour will augment law enforcement efforts through the electronic traffic camera system.
The bureau head confirmed that the new license plate colour scheme, achieved by inverting the current plate and lettering colour format to white plate and black lettering, will be introduced gradually this year.
"The changes will enhance the effectiveness of the electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) traffic camera system," Ramadhan stated at the National Police Headquarters here on Monday.
The colour contrast of black lettering against a white license plate allows for easier detection of traffic law violators by the electronic traffic camera system, he noted.

The National Police has installed 12,004 traffic CCTVs at 253 points under the jurisdiction of 12 regional police forces to enhance the electronic traffic ticket issuance system, Ramadhan remarked.
Electronic traffic tickets had been issued to 136,408 violators in 2021, he confirmed while adding that Rp42.82 billion (US$2.9 million) in fines had been collected from some 78,616 violators, or equivalent to 49.36 percent from all violators that year, who paid their fine.
The issuance of traffic tickets has contributed to the increase in non-tax state revenue, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Chief of the National Police General ListyoSigitPrabowo, at a hearing meeting with House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission III members on Monday, stated that the issuance of traffic tickets through electronic means had prevented the likelihood of police misconduct against traffic violators.

The electronic traffic ticket will persuade vehicle drivers to observe traffic regulations while driving without the need for police officers to be present on the roads, the police chief remarked.
"The electronic traffic ticket system is expected to have a deterrent effect on drivers, as road accidents are caused by drivers that violate traffic regulations," Prabowo stated.
By reducing unnecessary physical contact, the electronic traffic ticket will also reduce the likelihood of spread of COVID-19 infection, he added.
