We have planned to (set up vaccination points) for COVID-19 booster vaccine at all bus terminals that will serve Eid exodus travellers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Transportation Office and Health Office planned to open vaccination points that will serve travellers at seven bus terminals in the province during the Eid al-Fitr exodus period, an official stated.

"We have planned to (set up vaccination points) for COVID-19 booster vaccine at all bus terminals that will serve Eid exodus travellers," Transportation Office's Road Transport Department Head Yayat Sudrajat noted here on Tuesday.

Only the Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta is currently ready to serve COVID-19 booster vaccination, the department head stated while adding that the authority will involve officials at bus terminals to bolster the COVID-19 booster vaccine distribution.

Of the seven bus terminals that will serve travellers during the Eid exodus period, the four main terminals are Pulo Gebang and Kampung Rambutan terminals in East Jakarta, Kalideres terminal in West Jakarta, and Tanjung Priok terminal in North Jakarta, he stated.

Meanwhile, Lebak Bulus terminal in South Jakarta, Grogol terminal in West Jakarta, and Muara Angke terminal in North Jakarta will be operated as backup terminals, Sudrajat remarked.

He confirmed that booster vaccination points at terminals will be opened across the Eid exodus period from April 25 until the completion of the return period on May 9.

Apart from preparing vaccination points, the provincial authority continues to inspect the vehicles' roadworthiness and bus drivers' health conditions, he stated.

"Inspection of vehicles' roadworthiness and bus drivers' health had been continued since April 2022," Sudrajat noted.

Medical officers will examine bus drivers' physical health and urine samples, and bus drivers were not allowed to drive their bus if the medical officer found them not physically sound for the task, the department head stated.

Earlier, Jakarta Health Office Head Widyastuti urged residents planning to travel during the Eid homecoming period to seek the COVID-19 booster vaccine before their departure.

Taking booster vaccine days before departure will help residents cope with possible side effects that may appear after receiving the vaccine, she noted.

"We hope (the residents) will not wait (to get their vaccine) until the departure date, and we urged residents to not take the booster vaccine only because they want to travel," the office head stated on Thursday (Apr 14).
