District head Herman Suherman said that the government has verified 24,107 houses that have been damaged by the quake. Military and police officers will be involved in the reconstruction effort, he added.
"Per the data verified by a special team, a total of 24,107 damaged houses have been recorded, which comprise 11,203 houses with minor damages, 7,273 units with moderate damages, and 5,631 homes with major damages," he informed here on Friday.

The district authorities will continue compiling data on the damage to residential properties to ensure prompt response to hundreds of thousands of residents in the four most-affected sub-districts whose homes have been damaged in the quake and who are currently lodged in refugee shelters.
"Residents whose houses have suffered major damage will receive Rp50 million (US$3,200) in assistance, while those with moderate damage will receive Rp25 million (US$1,600), and residents whose houses have suffered minor damage will receive Rp10 million (US$640). Our team will conduct the on-site verification," the district head informed.
The authorities will provide equal assistance for upper-middle and lower-middle-class residents, he noted.
Suherman said that the assistance for upper-middle-class residents would be in the form of stimulus, and lower-middle-class residents will receive the main assistance to encourage their ownership of standard 36-type houses.

Military and police officers will be deployed to assist in the reconstruction of lower-middle-class residents’ homes, while upper-middle-class residents will receive cash assistance and will be encouraged to seek other sources for reconstruction work, he added.
"Those who, according to the BMKG (Meteorological, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) notification, live in red or restricted zones will be relocated to three sub-districts where the reconstruction project is ongoing," Suherman informed.
