"It is not easy to compete in extreme weather like this, but it is also not difficult to clock a win. Thankfully, our determination to win is getting stronger, and all of that is proven by the success of ranking second in general," Chairperson of INATKF Muchlas Rowi stated here on Monday.
According to Rowi, the match held on December 11-12, 2022, was a challenge for the Indonesian contingent owing to its relatively short preparation and the cold weather of Tashkent City.
However, owing to the fighting spirit, the five athletes sent by INATKF were able to record the best title.
The five athletes are Erwin Syauridhani, Devia Amylia Putri, Ehwatu Zuriyah, Roberdto Lusiandro Manu, and Kriyo Sambodho.
Rowi, who concurrently serves as General Secretary of the Asia-Ocenia Traditional Karate Federation, explained that INATKF also gained international achievement in the past, such as the 2020 Afro-Asia Online Traditional Karate Championships.
"At that time, Indonesia ranked third, with three gold, two silver, and seven bronze medals. Of course, this is proof that the tradition of INATKPF's achievements has strengthened," he remarked.
In addition, he stated that the target of becoming a champion in INATKPF aligned with the spirit of the G20 implementation in Bali that carried the theme of "Recover Together, Recover Stronger."
Indonesian athletes that participated in the 3rd Asia Oceania Traditional Karate Cup 2022 were gold medalists at the State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir Cup National Championship in Surabaya, East Java.
The Indonesian Embassy in Uzbekistan also supported the athletes while competing there.
“Congratulations to INATKF for making achievements in Tashkent City. We support every agenda of activities from INATKF. Good luck,” Indonesian Ambassador to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Sunaryo Kartadinata stated.
