Mataram, NTB (ANTARA) - The Regional Tourism Promotion Agency (BPPD) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is preparing to hold a direct roadshow in Malaysia to promote the MotoGP event scheduled for September 27–29 in Central Lombok.

The MotoGP event, the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, will take place at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.

"We will carry out a roadshow on September 2–9, 2024," NTB BPPD head Sahlan Saleh said during a meeting on preparations for the MotoGP event on Thursday.

He said that during the roadshow promotion, his office will provide details on the art and cultural performances slated during the MotoGP event.

According to the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), as of August 29, a total of 6,360 tickets have been purchased for the event.

For the weekend pass, tickets for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 are priced in the range of Rp700,000 to Rp2.5 million (around US$161.90). Meanwhile, the 3-day pass VIP hospitality tickets are being sold for Rp15 million.

Chairperson of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024, Troy Reza Warokka, said that one of the factors for the sluggish ticket sales is accommodation.

Prospective spectators are still waiting for the local government's firm action on hotel room price increases.

Under the NTB Governor's Regulation, hotels inside the first ring area around Mandalika are allowed to raise prices by a maximum of threefold.

Meanwhile, hotels in the second ring area in Mataram city can charge two-fold the normal price at the most.

Then, hotels in the third ring area in Senggigi and Gili Trawangan have to limit themselves to a one-fold increase in prices.
